Happy Year of the Dog!

I wish you good fortune in the new lunar year!

Speaking of fortune, I was watching a show on the Food Network a few weeks ago and saw that Good Fortunes offers giant fortune cookies dipped in chocolate, toffee, caramel or whatever you wish. I immediately thought of my good friends, Lori and Laura. When I used to work in downtown Los Angeles, we'd go to a great Chinese restaurant for lunch near the office. We'd always look forward to the end of the meal when we can unwrap delicate little packages of colored foil to find delectable fortune cookies dipped in white chocolate. Lori and Laura would love these giant versions of the cookies we enjoyed so much. The cookies weigh about one pound and nearly 1 foot long. You can even personalize your fortune. YUM!

Mad About West Elm

Monday madness at the office has got me wishing for serene settings and cheery accessories. Right now, all I see are gray walls, gray carpet and endless piles of legal documents. Wouldn't it be great if I can snap my fingers and be surrounded by these at my desk? I'm sure I'd be much more productive.

All from West Elm.

Photo Album Contest

Kolo's Photo Album Layout Contest is going on now through April 30, 2006. The theme is "Ordinary People. Ordinary Lives." What a great way to tell a story and share snippets of your most special moments. I wish I had the time to get some photos organized and enter the contest. Actually, I wish I had the time to get photos organized. Period. I'm ashamed to say that most of my photos are loosely stored inside one moving box still untouched after our move from Corona a year ago, and from San Francisco 3 years before that. I'm hoping that these Kolo albums will inspire me to get those photos out of the box and neatly organized.

Hula Mao Lua

This Hawaiian phrase means "Hula is everlasting." Today in Hula class, we finished learning one of our Hula Kahikos (ancient style of Hula). The warm Southern California weather, Hawaiian music and the Aloha atmosphere made me long for one of my favorite places in the world.

Searching For the Perfect Tea Cup

I'm participating in the First Ever Tea Cup Swap organized by Beth and Joy. Last weekend, I went to Country Roads Antiques and Gardens in Old Towne Orange to search for the perfect tea cup and saucer to send to my swap partner. I love walking around this city to explore the various antique shops, Victorian homes and grab a bite to eat at one of its many cafes. It's certainly a city filled with nostalgia and charm. Here are some of the awesome items I saw at Country Roads.

Finally Getting Started!

After months of going back and forth deciding - and not deciding - on creating a blog, here I am! I am not a computer guru, so I will be learning a lot.

Dandelion Sky is going to be about wishes, daydreams, inspirations and imagination. In my world, this will include interior design, fashion, arts, food and the joy of paying it forward in order to help others. I think it's important for all of us to have a positive environment and to be surrounded by positive people. Sometimes we have no control over certain things, but in the big picture, we can find simple things in our daily lives that will put a smile on our faces, whether it be remembering a funny story or finding a great deal on adorable shoes or having tea with friends or volunteering at an animal shelter or tripping over carpet at work and laughing about it. Life is short - live it!
